How to Cope with the Death of your Pet

Losing an important person in your life is one of the most difficult things we face as human beings. It is upsetting and devastating. For many people, the loss they feel when they lose a pet is as significant as losing a friend or member of the family. This is not surprising as pets play a big role in our lives. Pets that are our companions and friends leave a big void.

For many people, their pet is a big part of their life. They spend a lot of time with them, take them for walks, and talk to them. Their death is, therefore, likely to be particularly distressing. How do you cope with the death of your furry friend?

It is important to remember that everyone grieves differently. There is not set process or pattern. Many people acknowledge stages of grief, which are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. However, these stages can happen at any time and in any order.

You may find that some people don’t understand how you feel. This may be because they haven’t experienced the relationship you had with your pet. You should never feel embarrassed or ashamed about your feelings. Though devastating, grief is a natural and healthy process.

There is no right or wrong way to deal with grief and loss, and there is no timescale. Some people find the following tips comforting.

Honoring and Celebrating your Pet’s Life

There are many ways to honor and celebrate the life of your pet. This could include setting up a funeral or memorial service for them. During the service, you could talk about your pet, share photos or video footage if you have it.

Some people like to display photos of their friend or set up a dedicated memorial book. Others turn their pets ashes to diamond. This process is completed in a specialist lab, and the result is a beautiful visual memory of your pet.

Talk to Someone

During difficult times like loss, it is helpful to share your feelings with another person. Be completely honest about how you’re feeling. Explain how important your pet was in your life and the void this has now left. Find someone you feel comfortable crying and grieving with.

If you feel that you’re unable to cope with these strong emotions, then consider seeing a therapist. He or she will have experience in helping people to come to terms with grief. You can talk openly with them, without judgment.

Look After Yourself

Grief and loss can have a significant impact on your emotional and physical health. Try to take care of yourself during this difficult time. Though you may not feel like it, try to eat and take some exercise.

The loss of a significant person in your life is traumatic and devastating. It may feel as though you will never get over it. You will never forget but in time, you will learn how to live with their loss. Eventually, the memories you have will be a comfort to you.

Horseshoe Crab in Ocean City

We went to Ocean City in  summer of 2014 and we had a blast.  We   stayed for  5 days  there and we  always went for a morning walk on the seashore to breath the   air from the ocean and see neat things.  Although I grew up in a coastal region and  being by the ocean was an everyday thing, living here in the  WV is a different story.  We live so far from the ocean that's why, we  love taking the kids to places that we don't have here.  Ocean City trip was a real treat for them.
My kids have never seen a horseshoe crab before  so when I saw one in Ocean City, I immediately called them and showed it to them.  They were scare of it but at least they got to see how it looks like.
I was honestly surprised to see a big one  down there.  O  only seen some of these  back home but they weren't very big.
Here's an info I  got from wikipedia.

Horseshoe crabs are marine arthropods of the family Limulidae that live primarily in and around shallow ocean waters on soft sandy or muddy bottoms. They occasionally come onto shore to mate. They are commonly used as bait and in fertilizer. In recent years, a decline in the population has occurred as a consequence of coastal habitat destruction in Japan and over harvesting along the east coast of North America. Tetrodotoxin may be present in the roe of species inhabiting the waters of Thailand. Because of their origin 450 million years ago (Mya), horseshoe crabs are considered living fossils

Don't Leave For A Dog Walk Without These Essential Items!

One of the best thing about owning a dog is the chance to take them for a walk. It can lift both of your moods and is an excellent way to spend time together. It’s important for a dog's health that you walk it regularly. It should be at least once or twice a day. It can also be good for your health as it’s regular exercise that you might not do otherwise! If you are planning to head off on a long dog walk, there are some necessities you should take with you.

Camera

Going on a walk with your pet is a great way to capture some beautiful images of your pooch. So, therefore, you should take your camera with you as you will regret it if you miss a funny moment with your doggie. Use your mobile phone camera if you don’t own a decent camera.

Coat for Dog

Check the weather before you head out on a dog walk as it could end up being very cold. If it does look like it’s going to rain while you’re out, you may want to take with you a coat for the dog. It will keep the dog cozy while you are out and about. There are so many online that you can choose from, or you could purchase one from a pet store. If it’s going to be horrendous weather, you may want to delay your walk until later.

Water

If you are going on a walk with your pooch, you should remember to take some water with you. As this article explains, it’s important for you to drink water on a long walk. And of course, it’s necessary to keep the dog hydrated. Use your hand like a bowl or consider taking a small bowl with you that can be packed away easily.

Poop bag

When dogs go on a walk, they often use the opportunity to go to the toilet. You can’t go on a dog walk without taking a poop bag with you. Not only can it lead to a fine if you let your dog poop in certain areas, but it’s bad for the environment. It’s important to keep parks nice and clean. Buy some from a supermarket or check for dog poop bags for sale online.

Dog treats

If you want to teach your dogs some tricks while on your walk, you should take some dog treats with you. It will help encourage your dog to do the trick, and they will enjoy it! It will also keep their hunger at bay while on the walk.

Toy

Another way to keep your dog entertained is to take one of their favorite toys with them. Carry it in your pocket and surprise them when you stop for a break. It’s great to entertain them while you rest for a few moments.
t he did not attempt to run away.
Make sure you plan where you want to go on your dog walk before you head out. If your dog gets tired, you may end up carrying it back!

Wild Calling: A New Taste for our Fur Babies

Having two different dogs is like having two  kids whose personality are  so different.   Our Jack Russel Terrier (Champ), is very hyper while our mixed-breed dog (Bolt - part miniature pincher and part doberman) is very   mellow and gentle.  Champ loves to bark   and very aggressive while Bolt is very quite.
Having said that, even on food, they have their own preference.  Champ loves  seafood like fish while Bolt is not crazy about it.  I thought of letting them try this  Wild Calling Mountain Lake  dog food made of 96% duck meat.  It is a grain-free rotational diet dogs.
There  is added vitamins and minerals on this  dog food to ensure a healthy life for canine. It does not contain artificial  ingredients but has  zinc, copper and iron.   They are made in the USA and you can get it for   $35.35 (12 cans) at their website.
See how excited Champ is for his dinner? He immediately lick the opened can and  tried to immediately  have a taste of it.
Bolt on the other hand, did not touch his food.  For some odd reason, this is the very first time where gave him something that he did not like.  I think, he doesn't like the pasty texture of it.  I even mixed it with their dry dog food so it will grab on to something and he won't have a hard time eating it but he refused to eat it.  So I discovered that he is not  fond of ducks!
I also got this Nature's Miracle stain odor remover  because I will be cleaning this house  when we move out next month  to get it ready for listing.  I did not realized that they have specific  bottle for cats and dogs.  I don't have a cat so I got the wrong  bottle.  Anyway, this cost  $7.29 at Chewy.com but I think I can still use it as it can remove stain from the carpet so we will see.  This suppose to break down odors from dog and cat vomit, urine, feces, or any other organic substance on contact, and penetrates deep into surfaces to wipe away stains.  This is suitable for carpet, hardwoods, kennels, fabric, and more.
Disclosure: The owner of this blog was NOT financially compensated to write this review.  I was provided with the product/s mentioned  to help me  facilitate this review but  opinions are my own.

How To Prevent Your Dog From Getting Lonely

Is it such a bizarre thing to suggest that dogs get just as lonely as we do? If you let it spiral out of control, it can turn into depression and a lack of interest to even bother going outside. You’ve got to allow your dogs to have social interaction, even if it’s just with you. It can be difficult when you have to leave them alone for long periods of time, but there are still measures you can take.

Train Them To Deal With Separation

We’ve all seen those videos where we despair for the dog who can’t bare to be parted with their owner. Their way of dealing with this usually comes with loud howling and tearing up the living room. If this is the case, it doesn’t have to be the norm in your future. As with all training methods, you need to start slowly and get them used to separation. There are loads of guides for dealing with separation anxiety, so study them thoroughly and start training them to manage it.
Send Them To A Daycare Service

If you’re constantly away from the home, it might be best to send your dog to a daycare service. Here, they’ll get the attention they crave, and they’ll also socialize with other dogs and humans. Daycare services like the one at http://auntbspetresort.com/doggie-daycare-madison/ offer “personal love and attention all day”. They’ll be happier as a result, and the social interaction will do them good. Dogs need to be able to socialize with other dogs from time to time, and this might be the only way for them to do that on a regular basis.

Spend Quality Time With Them

How often do you take the time to really interact with your dog? Have a game of fetch with them in the garden, or simply fuss over them while you’re watching a movie. They’re always grateful for the attention, and it’ll help to limit the loneliness factor considerably. Remember; just because you’re in the room, doesn’t mean they don’t feel lonely. Show them how much they mean to you.

Take Them On Regular Adventures

Playing in the garden or going for the same walk you always do is OK, but it shouldn’t stop there. Break the routine and go on adventures with your dog. Bring them along when you go on mini-holiday breaks. They’ll get used to a different environment and meet new people, just like you! It’s very hard to feel lonely when you’re in new surroundings with your family around you. By staying indoors in the same surroundings all-day every day, it’s just a bit too familiar.

To sum up, the best way to prevent your dog from becoming lonely is just to give them some attention. However you do that is up to you, but you can’t afford to leave it too late. As times go on, depression and loneliness will set in, and you might find they become reluctant to do certain activities. Don’t let it get to this point; give your dog the love and affection they deserve.

Is It Possible To Bribe Your Dog To Eat Healthy?

At some point, every dog owner has felt the dull aching pain of disappointment in the culinary habits of their favorite pooch. We've all come home from work to discover that, in our absence, Fido has decided to enjoy a between meals snack. However, when we discover that the meal Rover made for himself consists of our favorite pair of fuzzy slippers, followed by a dessert featuring a few rolls of toilet paper, we can't help but feel just a tiny bit irked. Is it possible to bribe your dog to eat healthy? Is it a good idea to get him hooked on nutritional snacks instead of chewing up your TV remote?

Dog Food And Snacks Have Come A Long Way In Recent Years

As it turns out, the answer to this age old question is a resounding yes. You really can get your dog a whole slew of tasty, healthy treats that will finally break him of the habit of chewing up your slippers or your latest issue of Vogue. You just need to rely on your basic Internet surfing and shopping skills to find these delightful morsels that will tantalize his canine taste buds. The main thing to remember is that dogs are natural carnivores, meaning that they don't do salads. The more meat there is on a snack, and the more meaty that snack smells, the quicker your Fido will take to it.

Why Is Healthy Eating So Much More Important To A Modern Dog?

As you read through this article, you may well be wondering to yourself why healthy eating is suddenly so much more important than ever for man's best friend? The answer is that science and human engineering have done much more to change the composition and nutritional value of pet food than you might imagine. Just as we have invented fast food for ourselves, we've also stocked the racks at pet food centers and supermarkets with a lot of flashy, shiny junk food for our dogs to snack on. When purchasing food for your four legged friend, it's more important than ever to make sure he'll be eating healthy.

The New Line Of Bully Stick Treats Is Here For Your Dog To Enjoy

For example, it may interest you to know that a brand new line of natural bully sticks for dogs has been developed for your favorite finicky eater to enjoy. These new bully stick treats have been specially developed for the nutritional needs of canines. They've also been souped up with plenty of meaty aroma in order to go straight to the heart of the matter: Pleasing your pooch's palate! These new bully sticks can be purchased in a wide variety of styles, flavors, and assortments. Once your canine friend gets a whiff of these beauties, he'll be sure to go right off your slippers and socks.

A Healthy Dog Is A Happy, Worry Free Companion For Life

A healthy dog is a happy, worry free companion for life. You owe it your favorite friend to feed him a diet of healthy snacks that will keep him barking, running, and chasing things in fine style. Just a few minor adjustments in his diet can keep him in your life for years to come, so why not make the change today?

Getting a New Pet Means It’s Time to Remodel

When most people do a home remodel, they do it because they either have an addition to their family, in the form of a new child, or they have a subtraction to their family, in the form of children moving out of the house. They may want to add on a new room, or they may want to take a room that was once used as a bedroom and turn it into a room where they can sew, lift weights, or perform some other hobby.
Our dining room, formerly a bedroom
There is a recent trend in home remodels that have focused on the idea of making a home pet friendly. When people get a new dog or a new cat, they make changes to their home so that their animal will be safe, and so that their animal will enjoy their new home.

Some of the remodel ideas include redesigning the mud room. The mud room is the entryway that is usually connected to the back of the home or connected to the garage. In some homes, the mudroom is surprisingly nice and even includes a beautiful wood floor and well decorated walls. However, dogs do not care how nice a floor looks or how beautiful the walls are. When they come into the house, they are going to have muddy paws and are going to shake the water off of their fur. So one remodeling project could be to scale down the mudroom and include hooks, shelves, and other storage area where leashes, jackets, and other dog walking necessities could be stored. It may be a good idea to have dry towels stored in the mudroom as well, just in case Fido had a romp in a mud puddle.
Many new pet owners have seen the benefit of removing carpet and replacing the carpet with tile, wood, or some other easily to clean surface. Again, pets do not respect carpet. It is likely that they will see the carpet as a soft, comfortable spot for them to take care of their necessities. It is easy for a pet owner to get an estimate today on what it would cost to remove their carpet and replace it with a hardwood floor, a linoleum floor, or a tile floor.

Some individuals have gone as far as adding shelving throughout their entire home that their cats can play on. They have changed their doors to allow for dog and cat entrances. All of these changes have turned their home into a safe, fun environment that their pets will enjoy.

Wonderful Ways To Memorialise Your Pet

No matter the circumstances, it is highly likely that once you lay your pet to rest, you will want to memorialise them in some way. Here are a handful of suggestions to suit every different taste and preference.

An urn
One rather traditional method is, if your pet has been cremated, to keep their ashes in an urn. You can then display the urn wherever you like around your house, like on your bookshelf or fireplace. Just make sure it is kept out of harm’s way. Or, if you have a waterproof version, you could keep it in your garden. Some come with a special place to put a picture of your pet.

A memorial service
Having an actual service for your pet doesn’t have to be cheesy, and you shouldn’t be at all embarrassed. Our pets become a huge part of our lives over our lifetime. Just as it is good to have a memorial service for a friend or family member, it can be for a pet.
A simple idea is to gather all of your family together. Make a drink for everyone and sit down without distractions, like the TV or radio. Then, take it in turns to share some favourite memories. At the end, light a candle and have a moments silence together.
Create an online memorial site
Another option is to create an online memorial site. Here you can upload your favourite pictures and videos, as well as words from your family and loved one. Doing so can be highly cathartic. It can also be a way for people away from home to mourn the loss. For example, if you have older children who have now grown away and moved away from home.

Pet memorial diamonds

Why not hire a specialist company to turn your pet’s ashamed into a diamond. If you don’t have ashes, you can also use hair. Pet memorial diamonds are are identical to tradition diamonds. The only difference is that rather than them being made from carbon found in nature, they are made from your loved one’s carbon. This happens under laboratory conditions. The end result is a beautiful diamond that you can carry with you wherever you go.

Make a scrapbook
Another very cathartic way of memorialising your pet is to make a scrapbook. Inside you can put pictures and mementoes. This might be some material from their favourite toy, or their collar, for example. Get the family involved and have them contribute things also. You can then bring the book down if you start to miss you pet. Plus, if you move house, you can easily take it with you. Or, if you go and visit family and friends who knew and loved your pet, you could take it to show them also.

Plant a flower or tree
Did your pet have a favourite spot in the garden? Was there a place they always sunbathed, or a plant they tried to chew up every year? Plant a special flower or tree in that place. You can watch it grow, and be reminded of the love between you and your pet for many years to come.
